Amazon Sr. Program Manager – Internal Control Policy, Accounts Payable, Global Retail Accounts Payable in Arlington, Virginia

Our Finance Operations Global Consumer Retail AP Team is hiring a Sr. Program Manager III that supports Retail AP Process Optimization. This position is the front line of our program driving Global Retail AP optimization, standardization and improvements and working with internal Services Teams to understand vendor, business and services implications. This role focuses on process re-engineering, standardization, process improvement, productivity and quality controls that positively impact the overall customer experience. The role will focus on interdependencies of procure to pay processes; participating in projects and collaborating with system and business owners globally to develop the roadmap, drive finance end-to-end improvements, understanding accounting implications, and visibility to interconnectivity of end -to-end P2P programs. Having the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment is critical to this role. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a quick learner, and will have the ability to efficiently manage various high-priority and visible projects. The successful candidate will utilize various tools to support financial impact, accounting treatment, analytical reporting, improvement recommendations, and creation of management mechanisms relating to controllership and FP&A compliance and policy performance.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Value Stream mapping of operational processes and controls to develop roadmap for operational efficiency program.

  • Define and measure financial entitlements to ensure optimum vendor delivery.

  • Serve as a key business finance partner working in a matrix organization with business leaders and cross-functional teams, presenting results of ad hoc business and statistical analysis and recommendations to senior management for optimal decision making.

  • Prioritize and serve as the business owner for AP on program optimization Retail AP and Process initiatives, including but not limited to Retail AP financial and accounting reporting, documentation, and analytics.

  • Research, measure, analyze and develop reporting related to financial aspects of Global Retail AP optimization in various tools to achieve business goals.

  • Demonstrate advanced analytical skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture.

  • Review and measure financial performance on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly basis with Global Retail AP using financial and operational reporting.

  • Researches and analyzes fluctuations between program assessments and reports on trends, material changes and recommends modifications.

  • The successful candidate will be independent and flexible with solid communication skills and strong customer focus.

  • Experience prioritizing competing demands, and scoping large efforts and negotiating timelines are necessary skills.

  • Must be methodical, thorough, structured, and enthusiastic, have strong organizational skills and be able to adapt quickly. The candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions that balance employee experience, controllership, and frugality.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
