Robert Half HR Generalist in Chicago, Illinois

Description If you love Human Resources and you're looking for an engaging, new Generalist opportunity, Robert Half has the opportunity for you as a Human Resources Generalist. This role involves various HR duties, including recruiting, owning new permanent orientation, managing the employee handbook, and handling employee relations.

What you get to do every single day

  • Develop official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments, updates to the employee handbook, leave of absences, and warning/termination letters

  • Draft templates for various HR documents, including the Employee Handbook

  • Employee relations, involving engaging employees and coordinating sensitive conversations

  • Responsible for operations tasks for the HR department

  • Develop onboarding plans and train newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations

  • Work with other members of the HR department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for new company employees

  • Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, including benefits, attendance records, and annual reviews

  • Evaluate employee performance, including assisting with annual reviews, appraising pay scales, and coordinating disciplinary action (including terminations if necessary)

  • Engage with other teams, including with upper management, employees, and third-party vendors

  • Create employee engagement plans, including budget approvals and management oversite

  • Compare local, state, and federal laws to current internal policies and procedures

  • Create & /or support a recruitment plan according to operational and business projections Requirements - B.A. or B.S. degree preferred, preferably with a Human Resources or Psychology emphasis

    • This position will be best given to someone who is highly detail oriented; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Full cycle recruiting experience

  • Proficient with office computer applications and software, as well as social media platforms

  • Excellent written and verbal business skills

  • Prior experience coordinating and implementing Open Enrollment is a plus

  • Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)

  • Strong understanding local, state and federal laws

  • Desire to thrive in scenarios of team-based work or independent tasks, always looking to learn more and take initiative on a number of different projects and tasks

  • Prior HR Generalist experience
