JPMorgan Chase Corporate Financial Controller in Columbus, Ohio
JPMorgan Chase's Corporate Controllers is a global organization of about 2,000 colleagues, operating through a partnership among Corporate Accounting Policies, Corporate Regulatory Policy & Reporting and Corporate Financial Reporting, Corporate Sector Accounting, Global Finance Operations (GFO), Global Finance India, and Finance Platform Strategy & Controls. Working together, our strengths and resources enable us to ensure the integrity of the JPMorgan Chase consolidated books and records, and the results of individual legal entities within the Firm. The controllership function is focused on ensuring accountability and improving the organization's credibility. We focus on accounting, financial controls, systems and reporting.
As an Associate in Global Human Resources Financial Controllers, you will support all lines of business to deliver superior financial services to businesses and consumers around the world. Financial Controllers provide an environment where leadership, excellence, integrity and diversity are among our core principles. You will support US payroll accounting and Human Resources activities.
Job responsibilities
Manage monthly accounting processes, reporting, and analysis for areas supported and understanding of respective global balance sheets
Conduct and understand complex accounting projects and transactions, and provide timely and accurate financial information to management
Develop and document policies and procedures for managed areas
Ensure financial information is fairly presented in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Firm policies
Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, Control Self Assessments, and other internal control policies
Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries with a controls mindset
Maintain effective communication lines across a global organization
Participate in and document project/business case reviews
Establish and maintain relationships with internal customers (i.e. Planning and Analysis teams, Human Resources Business leads, Sourcing, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Corporate Tax, Legal Entity Controllers, etc.)
Understand and comply with policies and procedures related to merger activities
Lead process improvement projects and understand robotics and automation tools to drive efficiencies
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
4+ years of relevant experience required in accounting or finance, with demonstrated career progression
Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge
Experience with General Ledger bookings and oversight of monthly close processes including balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation, journal entries, and variance analysis
Proven ability to interface with various partners and customers
Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
Worksheet-modeling tools (Excel)
Independent decision making
Project or change management
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
CPA preferred
Structured mindset with process/continuous improvement orientation and automation or intelligent solution experience preferred
Experience with automated financial systems (SAP), database management, and Essbase preferred
Soft skills
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Creative self-starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills - multi-national language skills preferable, but not required
Candidates must be able to physically work in our Columbus, OH office 3 days a week and remotely from home 2 days per week. The specific schedule will be determined and communicated by direct management.
