Chemours is seeking an Electrical & Instrument Mechanic​ to join our growing team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance First Line Supervisor at our New Johnsonville, TN location.

This position is part of a high hazard operation and the I&E Technician could possibly work a rotating 12-hour shift, an 8 hour Monday-Friday day shift, or a 10 hour Monday-Thursday day shift; wear an acid suit and full-face respirator during summer and/or winter, ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs, operate a computer, and wear routine safety equipment daily. The I&E Technician should demonstrate teamwork, the ability to work safely, protect our work and community environment, respect all employees, and work with high ethical standards. The I&E Technician applies working knowledge and experience to independently improve maintenance techniques and operations, and upgrade equipment.

The responsibilities of this position(s) include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Repair and maintain machinery and equipment within manufacturer’s specification using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments

  • Engage in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machines and equipment.

  • Completes Lock, Tag, and Try (LTT) procedure on machines to assure equipment is inoperable and safe to work on.

  • Following all prescribed safety and environmental practices in order to prevent injuries, prevent incidents, and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.

  • Selecting and wearing proper personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, fall protection equipment, acid suit, respiratory equipment, etc.) in order to prevent personal injury.

  • Test, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment and electrical circuits as required by using specialized instruments such as multi-meters, wiggies, clamp-on ammeters, computers, etc.

  • Performing chemical equipment breaks and vessel entries following site safety procedures and wearing personal protective equipment in order to do maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.

  • Preventative Maintenance and troubleshoot process control computer systems (DCS), temperature, level, and pressure control instruments and processors and AC variable speed drives

  • Preventative Maintenance and troubleshoot equipment to detect imperfections. Observe mechanical devices in operation and identify potential sources of trouble.

  • Check and perform preventive maintenance on motor control center equipment; repair or replace motors as needed.

  • Perform ISO calibration on gauges, temperature controllers, etc. - Calibrate gages, controllers, transmitters as required

  • Utilize technical documentation (prints, manuals, specifications, etc.) to aid in troubleshooting.

  • Collaborating with operators, mechanical technicians, engineers, technical consultants and vendors to resolve instrument and electrical issues associated with plant operation reliability and adherence to standard operating conditions (SOC).

  • Assisting with the preparation of operating and maintenance procedures and job plans associated with plant systems.

  • Preparing and maintaining operation, maintenance and calibration data logs and records for regulatory compliance, audits and reports.

  • Patrolling and inspecting plant areas for needed repairs, generating work orders to have the needed repairs scheduled, reviewing/revising MWPs

  • Participate in maintenance work schedule outlook, including upcoming major equipment shutdown/overhauls

  • Responsible for housekeeping in areas

  • Other general maintenance work which will be assigned as business needs necessitate.

The following is required for this role:

  • High School diploma

  • A minimum of five years of documented, applicable industrial maintenance experience in Electrical OR Instrumentation OR A minimum of two years of documented, applicable industrial maintenance experience and associate degree or equivalent from two-year College, Public, Military technical training schools, or NCCER certification*

  • Previously achieved top rate as Technician; I&E on the Johnsonville site within three years of job posting.

  • Determination of experience and relevance/validity subject to approval. Skills demonstration will be conducted to review and confirm abilities.
