New York University [Music Technology] Adjunct Faculty in New York

NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Technology Program seeks qualified candidates to teach in the following fields:

Live Sound Reinforcement (Graduate/Undergraduate - combined)

This course focuses on the theory, practice, and practical applications of sound reinforcement. Topics covered include live audio system components and configuration, design, stage monitoring, and microphone techniques for live sound.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in music or music technology or equivalent combination of undergraduate education and professional experience.

  • The candidate should be familiar with system tuning and acoustics measurements.

  • Teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience and significant achievement in the field.

  • Teaching at the Undergraduate and Graduate level in the field.

  • Professional expertise with live audio system components and configuration, design, stage monitoring, and microphone techniques for live sound either academically, professionally or both.

  • Diverse live sound experience is a plus (e.g. small acoustic band to large ensemble such as orchestra or big jazz bands)

  • Experiences in engineering for various live music styles is a plus (e.g. solo singer-songwriter live sound, jazz, pop music, global music, classical music ensembles, hip hop, dub, DJ live sets etc.)
