Hilton Engineering Supervisor in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Responsible for supervision of all Team Members engaged in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, maintenance and other trades or projects as required.

Responsible for the efficient operation, repairs and maintenance of mechanical/electrical plant and equipment and other duties as directed by Chief Engineer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise and control work tasks for maintenance team either through the work order system or as a result of routine maintenance checks in operation at the hotel

· Responsible for completion of all log sheets and work order systems. Supervise daily assignments ensure their timely completion

· Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and preventive maintenance procedures are maintained to approved standards. Conducts daily checks of plant rooms and equipment

· Assist with supervision of outside contractors ensuring that work is undertaken to the hotel’s timetables and standards

· Assists with implementation of standards and procedures for fire and workplace safety programs

· Covers for other tradespeople in times of holidays/sickness, etc. Acts in Engineering Manager’s role as required

· Accountable for process improvement, scheduled maintenance and condition monitoring for all plant, equipment and assets of the hotel.

· Provides technical advice and support to Team Members engaged on maintenance work and sets the standards to be adhered to

· Inspects all plant, kitchens, fire installations, refrigeration, sump pumps, fire and domestic water tank levels. Record pertinent data on the log sheets with any defects noted in the engineering log book

· Notifies Chief Engineer of any emergency situations immediately

· Ensures on-call availability at all times whilst on duty

· Carries out inspections of all lighting systems during shift.

SUPERVISION OF OPERATIONS

ü Equipment :

§ Equipment and tools provided by the hotel are company property. They can not be used for personal projects and cannot be taken from the property

§ Equipment and tools are under each Maintenance Team Member’s responsibility. On conclusion of shift, equipment and tools used by each maintenance team member must be cleaned and securely stored.

ü Maintenance Storage :

§ Parts are not taken from the maintenance stores without having being recorded.

ü Safety / Security :

§ The Security of goods and people is a key element of the role.

§ No electrical panels are left open

§ Electrical cabling is never left exposed

§ Electrical equipment, power outlets/fuse boards etc., are tagged out when being worked on

§ Safety barriers and signage are deployed whenever required

At all times, for all team members, contractors and guests - safety is the top priority

ü Schedule / Punctuality :

§ Team Member’s daily work schedules are allocated and recorded on a daily basis

§ A roster of annual leave is maintained for planning purposes

ü Team Spirit :

Co-ordinate activities across the team to ensure all TMs are supported and can perform their jobs effectively.
