Job Description Summary

In accordance with written or oral instruction, dismantles, cleans and prepares equipment. Operates steam, dry, gas, and terminal sterilizers to sterilize equipment, components, or products. Processes stoppers/hubs using required equipment.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Dismantles equipment for the purpose of thorough cleaning, replaces gaskets, tubing or parts as needed Reassembles for sterilization and for process use

  • Operates all equipment in the department for the purpose of cleaning and sterilization

  • Stopper/component preparation

  • Maintains and checks process parameters such as sterilizer times, temperature, pH, humidity

  • Tares, weighs and labels as required

  • Maintains identity/segregation if items being cleaned, sterilized, etc., prepares and signs forms documenting cleaning, sterilization, testing, repair, etc.

  • Sets cycle controls for equipment such as stopper washers, sterilizers, CIP units

  • Assists in training of new colleagues on job

  • Checks equipment and parts after cleaning and notifies supervisor if repairs are needed

  • Maintains equipment and work area in clean and orderly fashion.

  • Receives supplies, product, and raw materials in area and moves to designated storage area

  • Performs calculations as required by batch card

  • Participates in training programs and observes all required procedures, practices, methods, etc.

  • Performs all functions in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Corporate regulations

  • Observes all Product Control Procedures and safety and health regulations

  • Checks/verifies identity, quantity of incoming materials. Documents performance of check/verification on appropriate documents.

  • Checks/verifies cycle parameters have been met by reviewing process charts. Notifies supervisor of deviations.

  • Prepares solutions such as acids, solvents, detergents, etc. used for processing or cleaning

  • Samples products after completion of sterilization according to the sampling plan/procedure

  • Samples for product residuals after cleaning, if required

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Physical Requirements

  • Required to reach with hands and arms and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts

  • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

  • The noise level is moderate

  • Work environment is a production/manufacturing environment
